FAQ – Your Questions, Answered

Massage helps the muscles relax by stimulating a reflex response of the nervous system. The application of smooth, steady, rhythmical massage can relieve tension and soothe sore muscles. This decrease in muscle tension causes the muscle to become more relaxed and elastic. Also, massage’s effect on the circulatory system is beneficial for the healing of soft tissue injuries.

Massage’s ability to aid in the recovery from soft tissue injuries, such as sprains and strains, is an important use of massage. Many soft tissue injuries are not serious enough to cause a visit to the doctor or hospital for treatment. Therefore, many injuries are treated with first aid; but they still may cause some discomfort and disability long after the initial injury. Massage can speed and improve the rate of recovery and reduce discomfort from such mishaps.

Massage can also help increase circulation, and thus promote healing, as the increased blood flow brings additional oxygen and nutrients to the injured area. In this way, massage helps bridge the gap between common neglect of injury and major expensive medical intervention.

Massage can also help stimulate the flow of lymph, the fluid that helps the body remove waste products. Massage can affect muscles directly by stimulating inactive muscles whose inactivity is due to illness or injury. Deep continuous massage can relieve muscle tension and help prevent painful muscle spasms, which are common following injury. Massage affects pain through the central nervous system.

In one theory of pain called the “gate theory,” messages of pain which normally travel from the injury to the brain, are blocked before reaching the centers responsible for interpreting pain. Massage helps stimulate and close the so-called gate of pain messages. As a result, the intensity of the pain perceived by the brain is decreased.

Psychosomatic studies show how stress factors can cause migraines, hypertension, depression, some peptic ulcers, etc. Some researchers have estimated that 80% of disease is stress related.

Massage therapy can help reduce illness by counteracting stress effects.

Please make sure there is enough room for the massage table and to walk around it. We do not offer bed or couch massages. A relaxing warm bath or shower before your massage session can make it more enjoyable. Please do not eat a heavy meal right before your massage session. Please remove any jewelry that may inhibit the therapist massage strokes. The therapist will arrive with everything needed for the session: (massage table or chair, clean sheets, lotions/oils, music)

Have your own massage table? Great! Just let us know when booking the appointment.

The therapist arrival time may be 5 to 10 minutes early. Please expect a brief counseling/evaluation session. The counseling/evaluation session should only take about 2 to 5 minutes. Your information will be held in strict confidentiality.

Please undress to your comfort level. You may leave on clothing that will help you to be more at ease and comfortable. Most clients remove all clothing. Others choose to leave on undergarments. Partial or full disrobing is recommended.

At the beginning of your session, please excuse the therapist momentarily while you undress and get in between the sheets so that your body is covered. Don't worry about your body, therapist is used to working on many different body types and are only concerned with your comfort and therapy. The therapist will always keep you properly draped with sheets, so you are never unnecessarily exposed. All massages are performed with sheets always covering the private areas.

All our massage therapists are certified trained, licensed, insured, and thoroughly background checked. All massage therapist has education prerequisites. All cmt's must pass a state/city investigator conducted background check to obtain a massage therapy license after being certified trained. H&h runs an additional background check prior to hiring, to ensure our guest the highest security/safety possible. We require and verify that our therapist are insured by a reputable firm.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

Otherwise, please prepare cash for gratuity to be given directly to the therapist. Tipping recommendation is 20%.

No. Absolutely not. Our therapist do not perform any kind of sensual or sexual services. Please do not contact heaven & home if that is what you are looking for. We only select the most professional and respectable cmt's and ask that you hold yourself in the same regard.
